Junior Hardware / IoT / Automotive Security Consultant
Secure products and solutions always have a secure underlying hardware and communication layer. To ensure that security requirements are met and the hardware and communication interfaces do not weaken the overall security, we perform security testing both on hardware (electronics) and interface level (e.g. wired and wireless communication interfaces).
Our typical targets are automotive components (ECUs), IoT products, custom or consumer electronics.
If you are familiar with digital electronics and lab equipment like an oscilloscope or logic analyzer, you like to experiment with different development boards and MCUs as a hobby, or just enjoy creating solutions for your home automation system, if you are interested in finding security weaknesses in products and hacking through their implemented protections, then this job is waiting for you!
Required professional background and skills:
- Speak and write fluent English
- Understanding of basics of digital electronics and schematics
- Understanding of basics of hardware level communication interfaces (e.g. I2C, SPI, UART, SWD, JTAG), test and measurement equipment (e.g. DSO/MSO, logic analyzer) and testing / interfacing techniques
- Knowledge of programming and scripting languages
- Knowledge of network protocols
- Knowledge of Linux operating systems
Advantages
- Experience with PCB design and EDA software
- Theoretical and/or practical knowledge of hardware hacking tools and techniques
- Experience with BT, LoRa, ZigBee and other typical IoT RF communication protocols
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Learn and support to conduct security testing (hardware hacking, automotive hacking and IoT hacking) of electronic devices and their communication channels and interfaces
- Writing reports, documentation, or presentations about the project results
- Research and learn new technologies, tools, techniques required for projects
