Who we are looking for
We are looking for a Data Specialist for Deloitte Digital team. As a Data Specialist, you’ll blend the strengths of a Senior Business Analyst, Technical Writer, Junior Data Architect, and Junior Backend Developer. Your mission: design clean data models, document APIs, and support backend flows that power products on a global stage. If you love structure, clarity, and excellent documentation — and can turn complex specs into elegant XML/JSON/YAML and developer-ready artifacts under time pressure — this role is for you.

Required Skills & Experience:
  • Data literacy: solid grasp of hierarchical data; XML 1.0, JSON, YAML 1.2 (scalars, sequences, mappings, nested structures).
  • Data wrangling: confident in VS Code/Cursor with format/validate extensions; capable in Excel or Python for inspection & transforms.
  • Programming: working knowledge of Python or TypeScript; comfortable writing Python-like pseudocode.
  • REST & APIs: experience consuming and documenting APIs in OpenAPI 3.0; hands-on with Swagger Editor.
  • From UI to data models: ability to translate Figma/draw.io mockups into well-structured JSON contracts.
  • Data architecture (foundations): conceptual vs. logical modeling; exposure to ERDs and Logical Data Models is a plus.
  • Collaboration: clear written English, crisp specs, proactive sync with engineers, designers, QA, and SMEs.
  • Mindset: entrepreneurial, creative, detail-oriented; intrinsically motivated to grow in data design/modeling/programming.
Nice to Have:
  • Experience writing technical documentation developers love.
  • Familiarity with schema validation (XSD/JSON Schema) and versioning strategies
Your future role
  • Explore and analyze XML, JSON, YAML with advanced editors (VS Code/Cursor) using validation, auto-formatting, and schema checks.
  • Design clean, consistent XML/JSON/YAML structures to support high-quality technical documentation.
  • Document data flows with conceptual diagrams and concise pseudo-code (XPath and Python-like syntax).
  • Define REST APIs in OpenAPI 3.0 (Swagger Editor experience is a plus).
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (Backend, Frontend, UX/UI, QA).
  • Develop & maintain reusable analytical snippets in Python; support backend tasks in TypeScript.
  • Author and maintain clear specs in Confluence, with visuals in Figma/draw.io.
  • Track work in Jira; keep issues, epics, and documentation in lockstep.
