Description & Requirements
✔ Do you design data models that bring clarity to complex, high-scale systems?
✔ Are you confident defining API contracts and documentation standards that engineers trust?
✔ Can you turn evolving requirements into clean, production-ready XML/JSON/YAML — without losing precision under pressure?
Join us in building the data backbone for the Olympic Games 🏅
In this role, you will own key data domains within a global Olympic technology program — shaping architecture, defining robust models, and designing APIs that power products used on the world’s biggest sporting stage.
If you believe that great systems start with great data — and you take pride in structure, clarity, and craftsmanship — this is your moment 🚀
This is more than a leadership role.
This is your opportunity to shape the digital experience of a global audience.
🌍 Why This Project Is Exceptional
🏅 Work on systems supporting the Olympic ecosystem
📱 Build a flagship mobile and web experience for a historic global event
🌎 Collaborate with international teams across Europe and beyond
⚙️ Deliver high-scale, mission-critical systems that must perform under worldwide attention
🚀 Operate at the forefront of digital transformation
🔹 Data & Modeling:
- Strong data literacy: hierarchical data, XML (1.0), JSON, YAML (1.2) — including nested structures
- Experience designing and reviewing complex schemas in large, multi-team environments
- Solid understanding of data architecture (conceptual vs. logical models, ERDs, LDMs)
🔹 Tools & Data Wrangling:
- Confident with VS Code/Cursor (+ formatting & validation workflows)
- Comfortable using Excel or Python for data analysis, transformations, and inspection
🔹 Programming & APIs:
- Working knowledge of Python or TypeScript (ideally both)
- Able to express logic clearly (incl. Python-like pseudocode)
- Hands-on experience with APIs (OpenAPI 3.0, Swagger or similar)
- Translate UX/mockups (Figma, draw.io) into clean JSON contracts & API payloads
🔹 Collaboration & Communication:
- Excellent English (written & spoken) — clear, structured communication
- Proven collaboration with engineers, designers, QA & SMEs in distributed teams
- Comfortable driving discussions on data requirements, trade-offs & edge cases
🔹 Mindset:
- Detail-oriented, consistent, and solution-driven
- Proactive, curious, and eager to grow in data & engineering
- Calm and adaptable in fast-changing environments
➕ Nice to Have:
- Writing technical docs developers actually use
- Schema validation (XSD / JSON Schema), versioning & backward compatibility
- Experience in event, media, or sports-tech ecosystems
Own the data. Shape the standards. Drive how systems communicate at scale.
🔹 Data Ownership & Architecture
- Own and evolve data models & contracts across key business domains
- Rapidly analyze technical documentation (PDF/Excel) and assess cross-system impact
- Define and enforce standards: XML/JSON/YAML structures, naming, versioning & documentation quality
- Drive conceptual & logical data modeling with architecture stakeholders
🔹 Design & Documentation
- Explore and validate XML/JSON/YAML using advanced tooling (VS Code/Cursor)
- Design clean, scalable, and reusable data structures
- Document data flows with diagrams, mappings & concise pseudo-code (XPath / Python-style)
- Define and maintain REST APIs in OpenAPI 3.0, ensuring spec-to-implementation consistency
🔹 Technical Leadership & Delivery
- Support backend flows (TypeScript) and build reusable Python data snippets
- Review and challenge data models, APIs, and documentation across the team
- Partner with Backend, Frontend, UX/UI, QA & Product to translate requirements into robust data contracts
- Own Confluence documentation (clear specs, versioning, links to assets)
- Keep Jira, documentation & delivery aligned — driving transparency and execution discipline
🔹 Mentoring & Ways of Working
- Act as the go-to expert for data structures, APIs & documentation
- Mentor Data Specialists on modeling, API design & technical writing best practices
- Promote a culture of clarity, speed, and engineering craftsmanship
