Description & Requirements

Who we are looking for
We are seeking an experienced SAP Archiving consultant with expertise on SAP  Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) and/or other archiving solutions such as Jivs, OpenText InfoArchive, SNP, etc. to design, implement, and optimize data archiving strategies and ILM solutions across SAP landscapes. The consultant will ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR), improve system performance, and manage data retention policies while enabling cost-efficient storage and legal hold capabilities.

Technical Expertise
  • Deep knowledge of SAP Data Archiving (ADK, Archive Objects, Archive Information System).
  • Proven experience with SAP ILM (Retention Management, Residence Rules, Legal Hold).
  • Familiarity with SAP Content Server, OpenText, or equivalent storage solutions.
  • Understanding of SAP S/4HANA and SAP ECC data structures.
Compliance & Security
  • Strong understanding of GDPR, data privacy, and regulatory retention requirements.
  • Experience implementing legal hold and audit-compliant deletion processes.
  • Performance & Optimization
  • Ability to analyze DB growth trends and recommend archiving strategies for performance improvement.
Integration Skills
  • Knowledge of ILM integration with cloud storage, external repositories, and third-party tools.
Soft Skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to translate compliance requirements into technical solutions.
  • Ability to lead a Team of junior consultants on project delivery
Experience
  • Minimum: 7+ years in SAP environment with 3+ years dedicated to SAP Archiving and ILM.
  • Proven track record of end-to-end ILM implementations in large enterprise landscapes.
  • Experience with other Data Archiving solutions in the SAP eco system such as Jivs and OpenText InfoArchive is a plus.
  • Experience in regulated industries (finance, pharma, utilities) is a plus.
Certifications (Optional)
  • SAP Certified Technology Associate – System Administration (SAP HANA or NetWeaver)
  • SAP ILM Specialist Certification
  • IT compliance certifications (e.g., CIPP/E, ISO 27001 awareness) are a bonus.
Your future role
Solution Design & Implementation
  • Design and implement SAP Data Archiving strategies for transactional and master data across SAP modules (FI, CO, MM, SD, HR, etc.).
  • Configure and deploy SAP ILM or other solutions for retention management, residence rules, and legal hold functionality.
  • Integrate ILM with external storage systems (e.g., Content Server, OpenText, cloud storage).
Compliance & Governance
  • Ensure solutions comply with GDPR, local data privacy laws, and industry regulations.
  • Define and implement retention policies, data destruction workflows, and audit trails.
Performance Optimization
  • Analyze system performance and database growth; recommend archiving strategies to optimize HANA or traditional DB environments.
  • Monitor archiving jobs and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks.
Integration & Interoperability
  • Configure ILM integration with SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC, and third-party storage/content management systems.
  • Support ILM for SAP Business Suite on HANA and ILM for cloud/hybrid landscapes.
Testing & Documentation
  • Develop test plans for archiving and ILM scenarios; execute functional and compliance tests.
  • Maintain technical documentation, configuration guides, and operational runbooks.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Collaborate with Basis, Security, Compliance, and Business Process Owners.
  • Conduct workshops and training for IT and business teams on ILM and archiving processes.
