🎯 What we expect from you
Essential:
- Professional experience as a Test Automation Engineer or Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)
- Strong experience designing, developing and maintaining scalable test automation frameworks, with a solid understanding of multi-layered test automation architectures
- Strong programming skills in at least one of the following languages: C#, Java, Python or TypeScript
- Hands-on experience with UI automation frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress or similar
- Experience with API testing using tools such as Postman, Rest Assured or similar
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems and modern test tooling (e.g. GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, Jenkins)
- Experience building and maintaining test harnesses and automation infrastructure, including performance, load and stress testing
- Good understanding of REST APIs, JSON, HTTP protocols and microservices architecture
- Good understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Agile methodologies and Quality Engineering principles
- Strong problem-solving skills with a quality-first mindset
- Experience working with Jira and Confluence
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
- Very good English communication skills (written and spoken)
Nice to have:
- Experience with C# (if not your primary language)
- Experience with penetration testing or security testing
- Hands-on experience with Claude Code or similar AI agentic development tools
- ISTQB or equivalent testing certification
- Experience in regulated industries such as healthcare, finance or life sciences
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and containerized environments
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or Google Cloud
- Experience with SQL and database testing
- German language skills (written and spoken)
🛠️ As a Test Automation Engineer, you'll work alongside developers, architects, product owners, business analysts and QA engineers to build high-quality software using modern automation, CI/CD and Quality Engineering practices. You'll play a key role in designing, developing and maintaining scalable test automation frameworks that ensure the quality of modern digital solutions across our Digital Team.
Your responsibilities:
- Design and own end-to-end automated test strategies across all test layers, including Unit, Integration, System, UI, API, Stress and Performance testing
- Design, develop and maintain scalable, multi-layered test automation frameworks
- Build, maintain and continuously improve automated test harnesses and CI/CD pipelines
- Create, maintain and execute automated functional, integration, end-to-end and regression test suites for web applications, backend services and APIs
- Design and execute stress, load and performance tests to validate system scalability and reliability
- Identify performance bottlenecks, stability risks and quality issues, and work closely with engineering teams to implement measurable improvements
- Collaborate with developers, architects, product owners and business analysts throughout the Software Development Lifecycle
- Promote and support Test-Driven Development (TDD), Shift-Left testing and Quality Engineering best practices
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing, analyse results and support root cause analysis of defects
- Support the adoption of AI-assisted development and testing tools, and document testing activities using Jira and Confluence
